A Few Sister Seasonal Thoughts. . .

When you get tired, just think of pregnant Mary riding on a donkey.

When baking, use real butter and real vanilla.

Stay up too late and get up too early.

Drink more coffee. Coffee fixes everything.

Give from your heart, you will never regret generosity.

Giving should hurt a little.

Go a little overboard for the people you love.

Stage a miracle and then sit back and watch.

Attempt to make Grandma Olga’s sour cream sugar cookies even if you might fail.

Start at least one story with “When I was a child. . .” create a legend based in reality and slightly exaggerated.

Sing at the top of your lungs.

Buy boots.

Be Merry.

And call your SISTER.

Olga’s Sour Cream Cookies

1 1/2 cups sugar

1 cup of butter and lard mixed (1/2 cup butter and ½ cup lard)

3 egg yolks

1 cup sour cream

3 1/2 cups of flour (sift before you measure)

1 tsp soda (dissolved in a little bit of hot water)

1/2 tsp salt

2 tsp baking powder

1 tsp flavoring (can use 1/2 almond flavoring and 1/2 vanilla)

Roll out on floured cloth in whatever shapes you like-sprinkle with granulated sugar. Bake 400 for 8 minutes. Cool on rack
